Ladies & Gentlemen, The Thieves.

Choi Donghoon’s latest offering The Thieves has recently released its first movie teaser and official movie poster. The heist movie which was initially pegged as the Korean Ocean’s Eleven boasts of a star-studded cast which includes Kim Yunseok, Lee Jungjae, Kim Hyesoo, Jeon Jihyun, Kim Haesook, Kim Soohyun and Oh Dalsu. From the looks of this teaser alone, I’m pretty sure this movie is going to be one hell of a ride!

I think I’ve spazzed myself out yesterday when I saw this teaser… and good thing too. You have been spared. I would like to say though, that my girl is looking OH-SO-GORGEOUS, and if that supposed cinematic noona-dongsaeng loveline between Jihyun and Soohyun were true, I WOULD BE ALL FOR IT. No questions asked. ^^b CHOI DONGHOON, JUST TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!!

As an added treat, here’s the official movie poster released today. Everyone’s looking so FINE. ♥

Now why does July seem SO FAR AWAY??? ;~; I need this movie NOOOOOOOOOW!

She’s On a Roll: Jeon Jihyun finishes “Thieves,” picks up “Berlin”

Looks like my favorite actress is hell-bent on re-introducing herself to Korean moviegoers after being non-existent in Korean cinema since Blood: The Last Vampire in 2009.

As previously reported, Jeon Jihyun will be playing a loud-mouthed, curse-up-a-storm thief in the Choi Donghun heist film Thieves, where she is reunited with her Il Mare co-star, Lee Jungjae. The film has wrapped up shooting just last week and has released two stills which only made me ask for more:

L-R: Kim Hyesoo, Lee Jungjae, Oh Dalsu and Jeon Jihyun for ThievesLooks like someone pissed on everyone’s breakfast.

Kim Yunseok as Macao Park for ThievesMust be this man.

Now, not even a month after Thieves has finished filming, Jeon Jihyun has reportedly signed up for a new project entitled Berlin (alternative title: The Berlin File), to be directed by Ryu Seungwan (Arahan, The Unjust).

Jeon Jihyun picks up next project, "Berlin."

According to preliminary news articles that came out just today, Jihyun will be playing an elite North Korean agent-cum-interpreter, who is married to a spy played by actor Ha Jungwoo. Additionally, she will be learning how to speak German for this role, and there’s a chance that most of the scenes will actually be filmed in Germany. Also casted are Han Sukkyu and Ryu Seungbum.

Actor Ha Jungwoo | BerlinHa Jungwoo (The Client, The Chaser)

Actor Han Sukkyu | BerlineHan Sukkyu (Tree With Deep Roots, White Night)

Actor Ryu Seungbum | BerlinRyu Seungbum (Beast and Beauty, Arahan)

(Please note that these information can change as better article translations come out.)

Oh my goodness. I think my heart has exploded into tiny, shining pieces of happiness at this news. I was already happy to know that Thieves has wrapped up filming last week, but I really WASN’T expecting Jihyun to sign up for another project this soon. There’s no news yet when filming for Berlin will begin, but since the movie’s slated for release next year as well, I guess it’s safe to say they’re already doing pre-production right now… which means Jihyun might already be starting German language lessons. How awesome.

I must admit I haven’t seen any of Ha Jungwoo’s work, and The Client should be the first (that’s on priority list because hello, Jang Hyuk oppa!) but I’m going to have to look up his other works as well. I hope he and Jihyun have amazing chemistry together because goddamn, the preliminary character descriptions are making me think Korean Mr. and Mrs. Smith or something. Well, okay… maybe not Mr. and Mrs. Smith but… ugh. Elite (secret?) agent and spy married to each other. OMG. That should be hot.

(Are we going to see kiss scenes, Jihyun unni? /shot)

Also, one of the reasons I’m so excited for this project: HAN SUKKYU.

I’ve been watching Tree With Deep Roots and Han Sukkyu as King Sejong is just. so. amazing. He is brilliant. I never thought I’d love another King other than Bae Yongjoon’s Damdeok in The Legend but Han Sukkyu just swept me off my feet. Of course you have to give the writers credit for that, but the man is an amazing actor, no doubt, and to see Jihyun working with him in a project is like an unexpected dream come true.

Ryu Seungbum. OMG I have no words. I have yet to see The Unjust (with Hwang Jungmin, who incidentally co-starred with Jihyun in A Man Who Was Superman), but I believe he has serious acting chops as well. I’m not sure what his and Sukkyu’s roles will be as of yet, but this makes for an awesome ensemble. Jihyun is so lucky, and the stan in me is, too.

2012 is going to be Jeon Jihyun’s year. And oh my goodness, I’m so going to be ready for it. ♥

Films ☆ 초능력자 / Haunters (2010)

Another Korean film that captured my interest during my two-month blogging hiatus was the 2010 film 초능력자 or Haunters/Psychic, an action-drama thriller which tells the story of a man who can control people’s minds and actions with his eyes and his unexpected meeting with a man whose mind he cannot penetrate however hard he tried.

Haunters (2010) | Kang Dongwon + Go Soo

Haunters stars two of the hottest, most talented Korean actors I’ve ever come across, and what a heavenly pair they make. Kang Dongwon plays Cho In, a vengeful young man blessed (or cursed) with the ability to control people’s minds just by looking at them, taking advantage of this skill for his personal gain. Meanwhile, there’s kind-hearted Im Kyunam living a very simple life, played by Go Soo. When Cho In crosses paths with Kyunam, the unexpected happens, as the former discovers that there exists someone who he can never control.

Films ☆ 아저씨 / A Man From Nowhere (2010)

During my two-month absence from this blog, I had been able to watch several wonderful Korean movies I haven’t seen before, and I thought that it would be nice to share them with you just in case you’re in need of a K-movie fix one of these days. Today, I’m going to talk about one of the most awesome K-movies I’ve seen in a long while called 아저씨 or A Man From Nowhere which stars the devastatingly gorgeous Won Bin.

A Man From Nowhere (2010) | Won Bin + Kim Saeron

In this film, Won Bin plays Cha Taeshik, a mysterious man of very little words who runs a small pawnshop in a small residential district (most probably in Seoul, but I can’t be too sure) where he forms a bond with little girl named Somee (effectively played by child actress Kim Saeron), whose mother’s (Kim Hyoseo) drug addiction sparks this film’s conflict. This innocent connection between Taeshik and Somee becomes a violent journey when Somee and her mother are kidnapped by an organ-trafficking syndicate, and Taeshik takes it upon himself to bring both of them back alive.
